Explanation of the 12 Volt Coffee Brewing Process

Explanation of the 12 volt Coffee Brewing Process

The average time to brew a full pot will vary depending on the condition of the 12-volt system it is connected too, under ideal conditions, 45 minutes to an hour is normal. When judging how well your new coffee maker works please keep in mind the limitations of the 12-volt system. A household coffee maker can have as many as 1800 watts of heating power. (120 volts x 15 amps = 1800 watts)

A 12-volt power outlet also has 15 amps, but now the equation looks like this: (12 volts X 15 amps = 180 watts), as you can see a 12-volt coffee pot only has 10% of the power of a home coffee pot.

To help your coffee maker and any other 12-volt appliances work their best keep these tips in mind;
1. Make sure your battery and charging system are in good working order.
2. Keep the cigar lighter/power port outlet clean.
3. Make sure the plug fits tightly into the outlet.
4. Untie the appliance cord when operating.
