Star Barn ground-breaking ceremony to be held Friday, March 18, 2016Palmyra, PA (March 2016) – The purchase of The Star Barn, “the most recognizable barn in the country”, by DAS Companies, Inc. over a year ago, marked the beginning of a very exciting journey. Since last October, the team has been working to gain zoning and building approvals to proceed with the relocation and restoration of the complete Star Barn Farmstead. The next phase of the journey begins Friday, March 18 with an official ground-breaking ceremony at 11:00am to be held at the Ironstone Ranch in Elizabethtown, PA. The timber structure, limestone foundation and tunnel of the 1877 barn have been preserved and are going to be meticulously disassembled and moved just a short 11 miles away to the Ironstone Ranch. This grand architectural American treasure will eventually serve as a venue for agricultural, historical experiences and occasional public events. “It is our mission to restore The Star Barn Farmstead back to its original 1870’s glory so it can serve as a strategic destination to be shared with the community,” says David Abel, Founder and Steward of DAS Companies, Inc. “It will be integrated into Ironstone’s existing rural heritage center and its core values, mission and stewardship mindset.” All net profits of Ironstone Ranch and The Star Barn are shared with the Brittany’s Hope Foundation, whose mission is to help special needs children worldwide experience God’s love through adoption, in-country care, and education. The addition of the Star Barn to Ironstone will assist with the work this organization does for children around the globe. “We are honored to be the stewards of The Star Barn Farmstead, and play a role in preserving Pennsylvania’s history through the resurrection, restoration and re-purposing of these structures,” says Abel. “We have a long process ahead of us before the project reaches fruition, but we are eager to stay on course.” The ground-breaking ceremony is by invitation only. The planned opening for the Star Barn Complex is 2018. For more information, please contact: Michael Kleinhans, Project Director, DAS Companies, Inc., 717-606-3181. About DAS Companies, Inc.
