DAS Kicks Off 2014 Summer Stewardship Campaign

June 17, 2014; Palmyra, PA – Associates of DAS Companies, Inc. will be serving their community this summer by participating in ACTS, A Call To Serve, a stewardship initiative launched by the company to encourage volunteerism and community outreach.

“At DAS, we want our associates to understand a different perspective. First, everything we have is on loan to us from God and He wants us to use it to help others and honor him. Second, we want our associates to understand that there are people out there more needy than us and we can help them with whatever we have,” said Mike Kleinhans, program manager.

“After doing similar programs like this over the last few years, our associates have a better understanding of what stewardship is about. They feel better about themselves when they can help others,” Kleinhans added.

Associates were treated to a lunch, reviewed a video of the 2013 Stewardship Campaign and learned details about this year’s program. Each associate will choose his or her own way to serve and will receive a paid day off to complete the service.

Some pre-planned service projects include taking lunch to and playing kickball with camp kids at Aaron’s Acres in Elizabethtown, which serves children with developmental disabilities and their families; helping the grounds crew at Elizabethtown Community Park in preparation for upcoming town events; and cleaning the inside and outside of Cornerstone Community Center,  a youth outreach center in Elizabethtown. Associates will treat the kids at Cornerstone to cookies as well.

Other projects may include getting a group together to do yard work or painting for a neighbor in need, participating in a benefit run for a local charity, volunteering at a fire station or spending a day on a clean-up project for a church.

In past years, DAS associates have helped many charitable organizations, both locally and globally. Organizations such as Aaron’s Acres, Brittany’s Hope, Ronald McDonald House and Haiti Partners are just a few of the many who have received help. DAS donates more than 30% of its profits to aid children, families and local and international charities.

The DAS Summer Stewardship Campaign will culminate with two large company picnics, one in Elizabethtown at Ironstone Ranch and another in Salt Lake City in its West Valley facility, for its 600-plus associates and their immediate families. “We’re also inviting representatives from the charities and organizations we sponsor throughout the year in order to allow our associates to meet them and learn more about them,” Kleinhans added.
